London Walking TOur

I have spent a lot of time in London, usually with new visitors. This is the route i take them for a full day of site seeing, and local fun.

Begin your day at Buckingham Palace with the changing of the guards ceremony, 10:45am. Stand to the left of the Palace when looking at it for the best views!

After changing of the guards, make you way through St James park to check out the beautiful views and wildlife. Swans & white pelicans  (yes, massive white pelicans in London, who knew)
fill the lakes as you walk the path around the park.

To the south of St. James park is Wellington Barracks, this is where the guards live. If you're there around Christmas, make sure to walk by, you might just catch a Christmas concert out in the courtyard.

Make your way to the east of the Park to take a picture of the Horse Guards, they are always outside protecting the Palace.

From here, you will want to head south to Westminster Abby. This is the Royal church, still hosts daily services, and is open to the public for tours. Leaving the church, head south towards the River Thames.

Elizabeth tower, aka Big Ben, and the houses of parliament live along the river. This iconic clock tower is 316ft tall and has been standing since 1859.. Make sure to have your cameras ready, there are some incredible photo ops in this area. Don't forget to take a photo in a red kiosk (phone booth), you can find the perfect view on the north side of Bridge St.

Crossing over Westminster Bridge will take you to the London Eye, County Hall & the South Bank of the thames.

The walk down the South bank will take you through the Jubilee Gardens, Riverside Walk, Shakespears Globe, covered market, London Bridge, the shard, & many restaurants and bars. Street performers are known to inhabit this area, so don't forget to bring some change!

This walk is about 2 miles from Wesminister Bridge to tower Bridge. Don't be discouraged when you pass London Bridge, it's not the fancy bridge you think it is, that is Tower Bridge.

Once you make your way to Tower Bridge, you will want to cross here to see the Tower of London. This is where the Queens jewels are kept and a great way to brush up on your London History. Tours are open to the public daily, but the grounds are just as impressive, if you don't want to go in.

This is the end of the walking tour. I usually like to finish it off with a ride back to Westminster on the River Thames. There are a few different water taxies available to relax on before you begin your night in London!
